Sciacca is considered the most beautiful city on the coast of Agrigento. It is a very popular tourist destination:
- for its sites Spa, famous since the times of the ancient Greeks and is still among the most renowned of Sicily due to the therapeutic properties of the sulphurous waters and the presence, unique in the world, two natural vapor caves and the famous waters flow from Mount San Calogero (or Mount Kronio).
- for its Carnival, the oldest of Sicily, which each year winds through the streets and alleys of the old town with impressive floats made by local craftsmen
- for goods of great historical and artistic interest (evidenced by the numerous churches, palaces, museums and castles) and landscape, presenting a spectacular coastline and beaches whose beauty can be admired from the square "Angelo Scandaliato", which is a natural terrace that overlooks to the harbor.
The city's economy is characterized by a strong development of the primary sector, backed up by a fishing fleet (second only to Mazara del Vallo in Sicily), which is connected to the business of processing of oily fish and coral, and large land cultivated with vineyards and olive groves that produces extra virgin olive oil and wines particularly popular, very popular even ceramics.
